Young professionals now make up the majority of households living in the Private Rented Sector. LivingCom, leading provider of managed Internet services, are proud to collaborate with industry professionals to lead the way in bringing contemporary living to the forefront of the build-to-rent market.
In order to understand what young professionals expect from renting, LivingCom conducted in-depth research to aid developers in creating stylish spaces that can attract young professionals. This research revealed that they prefer the increased flexibility of renting, especially in London and the North of England. This reflects the transience trend often seen with the millennial generation, with 56% saying they have moved house 1-2 times in the last 5 years, with 30% moving 3-4 times.
Meri Braziel, the Director of Residential Services at LivingCom, explains how “it is no longer the case that young professionals are simply renting because they have no other option. Whilst saving for a deposit is a factor influencing the choice to rent, many millennials desire the luxury style living and community feel that professionally managed rental properties can offer. At LivingCom, we understand that young professionals have increasingly high expectations from renting, and that PRS is leading the way in creating high quality living spaces for this demographic”.
LivingCom have teamed up with Moda Living, one of the thought leaders in PRS who currently have over 6,000 apartments in the U.K. Dan Brooks, Director from Moda outlines how “our aim is to provide a lifestyle, not a landlord, by creating inclusive social living that expertly blends work and play for our residents. We place the customer experience at the heart of our proposition, and strive to make living in our developments a lifestyle choice by combining modern technology with stylish, contemporary living spaces.”
LivingCom have also worked with Scottish PRS Developer Kingsford Estates, who similarly believe in creating a community feel for their residents. Charles Bingham, the Project Manager for Kingsford Estates’ latest development in Edinburgh, describes that the site will have “a dedicated community manager who will place a huge focus on building a culture within the community by bringing residents together. If you feel part of a community of like minded people, you’ll be more likely to stay and feel at home”. The site will also offer all inclusive bills, concierge, on site gym, club room, private dining room, gardens, and a roof terrace to help enable fashionable communal living.
With the Internet becoming increasingly vital to everyone’s day-to-day life, LivingCom services have been designed with this all-inclusive model in mind. Residents are connected from day one of their tenancies, and the cost can be included as part of their rent. 80% of young professionals consider ultrafast connectivity an essential part of renting, and 96% said they would be frustrated if they had no internet access when moving into a new property.
LivingCom have extensive expertise delivering managed internet services to the Private Rented Sector, and have developed products and services to answer the demands of developers, landlords and their tenants. Smart Fibre Infrastructure™ (SFI™) sets the service apart in the sector by offering a faster and simpler way to cable a building, helping to add rental value and significantly reducing operational costs. With SFI™, buildings are effectively future-proofed for the next 25 years, as there are no restrictions on what can be delivered via fibre. SFI™ also enables the provision of many smart technology services such as Wi-Fi controlled lighting and heating, door entry, CCTV, digital signage and smart metering.
SFI™ utilises the VertiCasa™ cable system from Prysmian which is designed specifically to bring optical fibre directly to residents, providing a fast and flexible means of connecting users.
